9 Weeks: June 17th - August 16th

Monday, Wednesday, & Fridays 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Rising Counselors program is a rewarding experience for young individuals looking to gain experience working with children. Participants have the opportunity to plan and execute camp activities, shadow experienced camp counselors, and leave with a letter of recommendation from the head counselor. Participants will go through CPR & First Aid training, a valuable skill that can enhance their ability to handle emergency situations and ensure the safety of campers.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

Shadowing Experienced Counselors: Participants will have the opportunity to shadow experienced camp counselors, gaining insight into the daily responsibilities and challenges of leading a group of campers. This hands-on experience is invaluable for building the confidence and competence needed to be a camp counselor. 

Real Experience: Participants will lead the planning and execution of camp activities, honing their leadership, communication, and organizational skills. 

CPR & First Aid Training: All participants will undergo CPR training, equipping them with essential life-saving skills. This training adds an extra layer of responsibility and preparedness to their camp counselor toolkit. Please note that this will not be a CPR certification, only training. 

Letter of Recommendation: Successful completion of the program makes participants eligible for a personalized letter of recommendation. This document can be a valuable asset for future job applications, attesting to the skills and qualities developed during their time in the Rising Counselors program.

FUN: This program is not just about gaining valuable experience; it's also about having a blast! Participants will enjoy White Memorial Park pool, and engage in fun-filled activities and games throughout the program. 

Registration Requirements

To be considered for the Rising Counselors program applications must be complete and include the following:

  • Registration Form & Waiver

  • Rising Counselor Questionnaire

Registration Opens: March 25th, 2024

  • Applications received between 3/25/24-4/30/24 can expect to hear back by 5/6/24

Registration Deadline: June 3rd, 2024

 

PRogram Cost

$100 / Rutland City Residents

$120 / Non-Residents

* Cost includes Summer Pool Pass and Summer Pass to the Rutland Recreation Community Center

An invoice will be sent with the acceptance letter for payment
